The earliest I could find this recipe was from 1964 in the *Passport to Trader Vic's Exotic Cocktails.* It shows up again in a newspaper article in 1967 but as far as I can tell, those are the only 2 places this recipe is shared. But it does appear that the main rerason this recipe never took off was because it's nothing special. This is just a frozen version of "Trader Vic's Daiquiri" with a rum swap. Instead of light rum, he used his Mai Tai brand rum. Was this just a recipe to try to sell more rum, or was it something special and inventive? I'll leave that to you to decide.
