The modern-day Carajillo is a simple drink of espresso and Licor 43, a Spanish liqueur with 43 ingredients that is sweet and citrusy with notes of vanilla and spice The equal parts Carajillo is enjoyable as is, but enhanced with a spirit like rum, cognac or tequila can take this to a full-blown cocktail without sacrificing much from the version of only coffee and Licor 43.
