The Port Light is undoubtedly one of the most well known Bourbon tiki cocktails and the Starboard Light is it's lesser known sibling made with Scotch. Both are excellent options to keep you in the tropical vibe but mix it up from the far more common rum. While it seems likely this started with Trader Vic, there were plenty of references to cocktails with the same name before Vic made this passion fruit and bourbon cocktail. He even gives recipes to those in his first Bartenders Guide. The original red and green glass tumblers were created by the Imperial Glass Company, whether that was made originally for Trader Vic or just anyone, I do not know. But eventually, we see them being used at the Kahiki Supper Club for their Port and Starboard Light cocktails and much later on turned into ceramic mugs for Trader Vics which you can still buy today. _recipes at the bottom of the description_ *Full Amazon Store:* https://www.amazon.com/shop/makeanddrink π *Best Citrus Hand Juicer:* https://amzn.to/4bU1tjY π *My Big Juicer of Choice:* https://amzn.to/4k5xkSE π§ *Nugget Ice and Tools:* https://amzn.to/3yH3zFe πΊ *Cocktail Garnish Game:* https://amzn.to/3UQ8v26 π· *Glassware:* https://amzn.to/4bOK2SA π *Cocktail Books:* https://amzn.to/3WwwR19 β¨ *From the MakeAndDrink Shop* Mai Tai Glasses: https://make-and-drink-shop.fourthwall.com/products/maitai Enamel Pins: https://make-and-drink-shop.fourthwall.com/products/enamelpin DrinkCoasters: https://make-and-drink-shop.fourthwall.com/products/coasters βοΈ *Favorite Slushie Machines* βοΈ *Ninja SLUSHi Max* Amazon: https://amzn.to/42OhZzU Walmart: https://walmrt.us/48CcEyE *Ninja SLUSHi* Amazon: https://amzn.to/3VbzhTI Walmart: https://walmrt.us/49HYFZk *HiCozy:* https://amzn.to/4pM8VFq *Ecoviva:* https://amzn.to/4nzAPmP βοΈ *Margarita Man Mixes:* https://margaritaman.com/?ref=qcqzwaia Use Code *MakeAndDrink* for 15% off _Order in increments of 6 to get free shipping_ π¬ *Tools I use to make Videos* *A Camera:* https://amzn.to/4eyoXwq *B Camera:* https://amzn.to/3YbkU3B *Microphone:* https://amzn.to/3XQ70m2 *Lights:* https://amzn.to/3XYE4Z2 *Music:* https://epidemicsound.com/referral/0p0ysi πΆ MaD Playlist: https://www.epidemicsound.com/playlist/jc578rte2ii0xcl5aaq5vn8tz7l6fv81/ _Some links are affiliate links that may lead to a commission paid to the channel_ π *Episode Chapters* π 00:00 Introduction to 2 Maritime Cocktails 02:08 Making the Port and Starboard Lights 03:59 Drinking the Port and Starboard Lights π *Recipe(s)* π *Port Light* 2 barspoons honey (or Β½ oz honey syrup) 1 oz lemon juice (30 ml) Β½ oz passion fruit nectar (15 ml) 2 oz Bourbon (60 ml) 1 egg white *Starboard Light* 2 barspoons honey (or Β½ oz honey syrup) 1 oz lemon juice (30 ml) Β½ oz passion fruit nectar (15 ml) 2 oz Scotch (60 ml) 1 egg white
