About This Video

In this vlog I’m unpacking our very first boxes and officially settling into our first home in coastal Maine—aka first-time homeowners with a toddler who is absolutely thriving with all this new space. I share the real-time chaos (including me being wildly overwhelmed by how much cabinet space we have) and little everyday moments that make it feel like home—like trying a local pizza sandwich spot and laughing through a full-blown Starbucks delivery saga that ended with a day-old coffee labeled ā€œJack.ā€ Then I sit down and give you the honest ā€œfirst few weeksā€ update: I truly thought I’d be instantly motivated to unpack and start projects, but I crashed mentally and physically after the year-long house hunt, the pre-move work, and the move itself. There was also a real mourning period for our Portland apartment, which surprised me. Once I started normalizing, I got excited about simple, doable plans—mostly paint—and I walk you room by room with what’s working now and what’s coming next. I talk through our cozy living room rug plan (layered rugs for texture), entryway/mudroom ideas, kitchen vision (beadboard backsplash + stone behind the stove), and my very specific paint dreams: mascarpone trim, possible yellow cabinets, a green office, and yes… I can’t stop thinking about a colonial orange somewhere in this house. It’s all the cozy coastal Maine ā€œin progressā€ energy.
