In this video, I’m taking my cluttered guest room/home office and starting over from scratch to create my dream creative studio—using mostly thrifted decor, secondhand furniture, and renter-friendly upgrades. I realized we weren’t hosting often, but I was in this room every single day, and the daybed was locking me into a layout that didn’t support how I actually work. So I sold it, brought in a big secondhand steel-and-wood workbench as my dedicated DIY/filming surface, and rebuilt the entire room around clear zones: DIY + filming, computer work + editing, reading/relaxing, and storage. A huge focus for me was layout and “footpath”—because when a small room has no natural path, it can feel subconsciously overwhelming. I used a digital mockup, lived with different furniture placements, and then made small, budget-smart changes that had a big impact: casters for the heavy desk (so I can roll it to the windows for better light), better lighting in all four corners, cohesive window treatments with Roman shades, and simple IKEA upgrades to make storage look more custom. I also share how I decide what’s worth spending on as a renter (renter-friendly, improves daily life, makes sense long-term), plus the little finishing touches—knobs, contact paper, thrifted decor—that made the space feel curated, personal, and functional.
