In this video, I’m kicking off a little outdoor reset series with three easy projects that made a big impact on my breezeway and backyard—without needing a huge patio or a full-on renovation. First up: a major clean. After record rain and wind, everything out there felt so gross and daunting, so I used a Greenworks pressure washer to clean my light outdoor rug (yes, the one that shows everything). Between the different nozzle tips and the foam cannon, I was shocked at how fast it went—my rug was genuinely cleaned in about 25 minutes start to finish, and it instantly made the whole space feel livable again. Next, I built a simple bench for my little sensory/zen garden using a heat-treated pallet from a shed delivery. I didn’t have a formal plan—just used what I know from past classes and worked with the limitations of the scrap wood. Instead of spending forever sanding for stain, I painted it for a fun pop of color and used an inexpensive handheld paint sprayer. It was fast, low-fume, and gave me a super smooth finish. Finally, I added one “enjoyment” investment to my faux outdoor kitchen: the Ooni Koda 12 pizza oven. My whole point is: clean it, personalize it, invest in one thing that makes you actually want to be outside—and then set time aside to use your space.
