About This Video

In this video, I’m taking you with me to two estate sales inside real mid-century modern homes (the kind that immediately make you want to move in). One sale was more “private/garage sale vibes,” which can honestly be where the best deals are, and the other was company-run—usually pricier on day one—so I went in not totally sure I’d even be able to afford anything. Both were advertised as having tons of mid-century pieces, and I was definitely drawn to the overlooked little corners: sculptural decor, baskets, lighting, and those small details that make a home feel curated. Back at home, I share my estate sale finds plus a quarterly roundup of the secondhand decor I’ve collected over the last three months. I show how I’m planning to use pieces like smoked-glass shelving with handmade oak brackets (perfect for tiny renter bathrooms with no storage), a Japanese flip clock, an Italian modern lamp, a teak coat rack, and a pull-out mirror I was basically manifesting for my guest bathroom. I also talk through how I curate slowly and intentionally—because renter-friendly design on a budget is realistic, but it takes time—and why thrifting, estate sales, and Marketplace are still my favorite way to build a home that feels personal.
