Do you ever absent-mindedly reach for your phone, swipe around, and hunt for that little splash of dopamine? In this video, I show you how the Obsidian Mobile 1.11 update (what I’m calling “Mobile 2.0”) lets you hijack that novelty bias and redirect it toward your own thinking instead of other people’s feeds. The headline feature: clickable widgets—on your home screen, your lock screen, and even your control center—so you can jump straight into your Daily Note, your Home Base note, search, or create a new note with basically zero friction. I walk you through setting up each widget step-by-step, including the “View Note” widget (which, as of this recording, can only target notes you’ve bookmarked). Then we take it further: lock screen widgets for instant capture, and iPhone control center controls where you can even configure the correct vault and optionally preload a search query. My biggest takeaway is simple: put an “escape hatch” back to Obsidian on every phone screen. For me, that’s what brought the Daily Note back, baby—I’m using it almost every day now because the environment finally makes it effortless.
