Free Pattern Lori Holt Chicken Salad Applique Birds I will show you how to reduce the size of the finished applique bird on a Bernina 790 + embroidery machine by 20%. This will be the same process for any embroidery machines. Its very easy, I finished my birds in software, then used the embroidery sewing machine to reduce the size in the Maxi hoop. It makes life a lot easier. If you have a smaller hoop, then, you may like to watch the next video coming up, you will see how I changed the size of the birds in Brother Canvas, can size to what embroidery hoop you like. I would just like to say the bird I was working on was not Percy, I somehow made a completely new bird? What the heck. What made it worse, I spelt Percy wrong. Just need text unpicking and giving it a new name ha ha The principal on how to do the bird is the same. 2nd video. Reduce the birds in Brother Canvas any size you like. https://youtu.be/z6-xS8ZuMd8 https://www.youtube.com/c/lifestylesew/videos How to make a printed label for a quilt https://youtu.be/2qtr5i6QsRE Free Pattern https://www.fatquartershop.com/chicken-salad-sew-along-guide-free-pdf-pattern https://www.facebook.com/groups/lifestylesew https://www.instagram.com/lifestylesewgwendoline/

About This Video

In this video I’m working with Lori Holt’s free Chicken Salad appliqué bird pattern, and I’m showing you the easy way I reduce the finished bird size by 20% right on my Bernina 790+ embroidery machine. I stitch my birds out in software first, then I use the embroidery machine to scale them down in the Maxi hoop. Honestly, it makes life so much easier when you want the design a touch smaller but you don’t want to rework everything from scratch. I also chat about what to do if you’ve got a smaller hoop than the Maxi. The process is the same in principle, but you may prefer resizing in software (and I point you to my next video where I resize the birds in Brother Canvas to whatever hoop you’re using). And yes—classic me—I managed to end up working on a bird that wasn’t Percy at all, then made it worse by spelling Percy wrong. So there’s a bit of unpicking and renaming in my future, but the appliqué method stays exactly the same.
