I flew from Bangalore to Pune (first time with Akasa) and decided to do a fully researched “viral food only” day—based on what locals + Reddit actually recommend. After landing in the morning, I figured out the slightly chaotic Uber pickup situation at Pune airport (tip: choose the Arrivals pickup if you want Premier/Business Premier), then I started my food trail with Vohuman Cafe. I tried their bun maska, Irani chai, and a cheese omelette—omelette was genuinely really good, chai was good but not my type, and bun maska honestly felt pretty normal… but the old-school vibe and the breakfast crowd made it feel super Pune. From there I hit Garden Vada Pav (must-try, even though I was already full), explored the market area near Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple (quick darshan, not much crowd when I went), and then went all in at Kirti Pav Bhaji. This one surprised me—in a good way. I also tried a unique cold coffee with chocolate chunks, checked out Goodluck Chowk/Cafe from outside, and then did my first-ever Misal Pav at Thorat Misal with friends (you build it yourself and it was too good). We ended with jamun shots (so good), Natraj bhel + pani puri, and finally coffee at a cozy spot in Koregaon Park. Overall: hype spots can be worth it, but I’ll always tell you what’s actually good vs just famous.
