About This Video

In this video I’m swatching the newest Pilot Iroshizuku inks (released December 2024): Syun Gyo “Spring Dawn,” Rikka “Snow Crystal,” and To-ro “Warm Lantern.” I walk you through the exact materials I’m using and my swatching methods, then we get into the really satisfying part—big swatches, close-ups, and those little details like shading and how each color sits on the page. It’s a relaxing, chatty setup, so you can just hang out while we look at ink. After the individual swatches, I do what I always want to see when new inks come out: comparisons against very similar inks already in my collection. I put Syun Gyo next to Sailor x Kingdom Note Grape-Dyed Cloak/Gown, Rikka next to Robert Oster Blue Water Ice, and To-ro next to Lamy Mango so you can see the differences in tone and vibe. Then I finish with writing samples using Platinum Preppy Perpanep pens and a final round of close-ups, so you can decide whether these new Iroshizuku colors are “must-inks” for your journaling and planning lineup.
