In this video I’m sharing a cozy little gift guide for art lovers—especially if you want to support small artists rather than buying something mass-produced. I flip through a handful of zines from my own collection and talk about what makes them such a lovely present: they’re affordable, easy to post, and they feel really personal because you’re holding someone’s tiny world in your hands. If you’re the kind of person who loves sketchbooks, illustration, and that “tea and a quiet evening” vibe, zines are honestly one of my favourite things to gift. I also share my own zines and books that I’ve made, and I chat about my zine shop on my website (including Calmtober zines and sketchbook zines). If you’ve ever wondered what to buy for an artist friend (or what to treat yourself with), I hope this gives you a few gentle ideas—and maybe introduces you to a couple of wonderful illustrators to follow.
