A lot of people ask me, “Max, why do you have so many Teslas?” In this video I break down the real reason we went all-in on EVs, even though I originally didn’t want electric cars at all. I thought EVs would be harder—charging, range, stations, all that. But once I saw how EVs actually operate in a rental environment (and how much control you get with the tech), it clicked. The maintenance difference compared to cheap gas economy cars was a big deal too—EVs just don’t have the same constant “stuff breaking” problem. Then I walk through how we scaled: the Hertz Tesla sell-off was the opportunity that opened the door, and I literally texted back one word—“Opportunity.” From there we built real numbers, a performer, and started thinking way bigger than 20–25 cars. I explain how we bought in bulk, how we created a buying pipeline through Tesla corporate and Manheim, and why “onesie-twosie” purchases don’t scale. Finally, I share the plan: we’re targeting 500+ Teslas (and pushing toward 1,000) because the end game is robo taxi. Until then, we’re renting them to ride share drivers with longer hold times so ops stay manageable, then transitioning slowly as the tech rolls out.
