A lot of fans assume everyone on stage is a “band” with equity in the music, but the reality is it’s usually not that at all. Money-wise, I talk about the range I see on the majority of Nashville gigs: roughly $150–$500 a night, with about 90% landing in that window. And I’m blunt about how artists and venues can take advantage if you don’t know your worth—especially when you’re expected to bring $20k–$30k worth of gear, plus cases, insurance, maintenance, and the time it takes to learn the music and travel.
