About This Video

In this video, I’m taking you through a pretty typical day in my life as a Software Engineering Intern at Google (Sunnyvale). I usually roll in around 10 a.m.—not because I’m slacking, but because I also get off work later. My mornings are mostly admin: emails, chats, scheduling meetings as fast as possible, then I try to squeeze in some coding. I’ll usually grab a snack from the micro kitchen too (each floor is stacked with snacks, drinks, coffee, tea—everything). This summer I’m on the Borglette team doing internal infrastructure work, which basically means writing code that runs across millions of machines in Google’s data centers to handle complex workloads. It’s challenging, complicated, and honestly sometimes frustrating, but it’s super rewarding when things finally work. I’ll grab lunch around noon with my team or intern friends at one of the many cafes (Sunnyvale food is actually really good), then I’ll get a little caffeine fix—even though I’m not really a coffee person. The afternoon is where the real grind happens: longer coding sessions, design docs, and check-ins with my host and co-host (my mentors). I also show some of the perks like massage chairs, nap pods, and game rooms, plus a quick campus walk because it’s genuinely beautiful. I usually finish around 6–6:30, hit the gym (can’t film), and sometimes play rooftop basketball even though I’m kinda trash—then I’m done for the day.
