Hi, Jimmy here. In this video I tested the NUX NAI-24 recording interface and walked through the features that actually matter when I’m tracking guitar and mic at the same time. It’s a 2-channel interface, so I can plug my guitar into channel 1 and a microphone into channel 2, and if you’re using a condenser mic like I do, you can switch on phantom power (each channel has its own switch). I also like that it gives me two sets of monitor outputs with separate volume controls, and I can switch between two pairs of studio monitors with one button. For monitoring and recording, the NAI-24 has two independent headphone outputs with separate level control. In my setup, I run my in-ear monitors from the second headphone out, and I send the first headphone out to my camera—so you’re hearing that direct feed. The big selling point for me is the built-in preamp/compressor function: it helps even out volume differences between pickups (neck vs bridge) and also boosts quieter pickup positions without peaking or distorting. To my ears it doesn’t cut my tone or make it darker—my high end stays there. I also showed the loopback button for capturing computer audio into your DAW, plus a stereo mode that can pan mic and guitar left/right if you want that separation.
