Hi guys—spring/summer is coming up, so in this lookbook I’m showing you how I style ruffle skirts when it’s about to be hot out. I walk you through a few different vibes, from super dainty “ballerina” (white + pale pink is my favorite spring combo) to more princess-y two-piece sets that basically save you the headache of figuring out what to wear. I also talk about little details that matter, like sock height with sneakers, and how I’ll do above-the-ankle socks with my Sambas (but crew socks work too). I also get into balancing structure vs. softness—like pairing lace and dainty pieces with a more structured ruffle skirt, or swapping in a structured top to make the whole look feel more preppy and put together. One big takeaway: make sure your materials “cooperate” so the outfit doesn’t look contradictory. And if your ruffle set is a little see-through, I just wear nude shorts underneath and call it a day. I even throw in a lazy tomboy-ish styling idea with a ruffle dress + basic tee (and a travel tip if you need to cover your shoulders in places like churches).
