I’m in my “very Chinese time of my life,” so a big theme in this haul is me hunting for cultural-inspired details that I can blend into my capsule wardrobe without it feeling like a costume. I unbox everything from a tweed Chinese-style jacket with frog buttons (cute, cropped, but I legit broke a button and now I’m planning to hot glue it and ask for a partial refund) to a K-pop Demon Hunters–inspired metal tassel charm that I want to use as a bag charm or outfit accessory. I also grabbed accessories to elevate looks—an ear cuff (because I don’t want to pierce my ears), mesh “French” gloves, Chanel-inspired double-C flower clips, and black/white floral socks (I’d say they’re best up to about a size 8). For clothing, I tried two pairs of Chinese-inspired pants with knot details: one XL that fit perfectly (just needs ironing), and another in L that I wish I sized up for length. I also tested a skort-style mini skirt that I’d tailor for better proportions, and my favorite piece: a brown houndstooth set with shoulder padding that gives such a fall prep vibe—tie, gloves, belt… the vision was visioning.
