About This Video

Come with me to Korea (Myeongdong) for my first-ever digital perm after waiting literally two years. I used to be blonde and bleaching my hair, and my salon told me it just wasn’t possible back then because of the damage. So I went back to black (way easier to maintain—just dye the roots, plus I have some white hairs up here), let my hair recover, and finally came back to try the digital perm. In the process I also got a haircut/trim because my ends were dead, and then it was the whole perm routine: chemicals, waiting, heat (I felt it mostly on my right side), rinse, and a hair mask. Right after, my hair looked super cute and bouncy, and they finished with hair oil/treatment—but I couldn’t wash my hair for two days, so you do have to baby it at first. Two-week update: I’ll be honest, I’m lazy. I don’t do the whole blow-dry-and-curl-away-from-my-face method they recommend—I just blow dry straight down with a Revlon brush, and it still stays wavy. If you’re like me and you prefer a soft wave (not tight curls), this was a win, and I’m overall really pleased. I just want it to grow a little longer so the shape feels more feathered and less blunt.
