A while back, I had a friend over for a Twilight watch party. Yes, Twilight is having a resurgence. Don't judge me. She asked: "So what does your day actually look like?" And I realized, there's really no such thing as a typical day. It's actually pretty chaotic sometimes. Still, people think I have it all together based on what they see on social media. Now, I'm definitely grateful. I've got a roof over my head, healthy kids, and a business that runs well. But sometimes things get a little... unhinged. Random example: one of my kids stuck their toothbrush to the bathroom mirror with the suction cup. There was toothpaste everywhere. It was gross. But I posted a picture of it. Because I thought it was funny. And also because I wanted to share a glimpse of that chaotic side of things. And to my surprise, a coach friend responded: "Thank you. I really needed that." The comment reminded me: When you look at someone online, it's easy to think they've got it all together. But they probably don't. And actually, showing the chaotic side of your life helps people feel more connected to you. So I started intentionally doing more of that. In my social media, in my emails, even in conversations with clients. If you've been comparing yourself to someone who looks like they have it all together online, remember: They probably don't. And you're doing okay. What's one messy, chaotic thing in your life right now?
