About This Video

In this video, I walk you through Survey Design Fundamentals using Google Forms so you can collect data people actually want to give. I start from the very beginning—how to find Google Forms from Google or inside Gmail—then I build a blank form step-by-step (I use a cupcake shop example) so you can see how to title it, structure it, and move through the three main areas: Questions, Responses, and Settings. I also show you how I like to speed up survey creation with AI. I’ll use ChatGPT or Claude to generate starter questions, then I copy/paste them into Google Forms. The cool part is Google Forms will often “read” your question and automatically choose the right response type (like multiple choice vs. paragraph), which saves time and reduces setup mistakes. I cover required vs. optional questions, adding descriptions, and the idea of section-based answers (sending people to different questions based on what they pick). Finally, I go into settings that impact completion rates—like when to avoid forcing Gmail login, how to collect emails without adding friction, and how to publish and share the form link (including shortening the URL). I also show quick design tweaks with themes and headers so your form looks trustworthy and on-brand.
