In this video I’m out in the cold with Kirby Winston to tour his newest build — and yeah, it’s easily one of the most unique van conversions I’ve ever stepped into. Kirby’s on van 15 (I was way off), and we keep the exterior quick because the real magic is inside. The first thing that hits you is his first-ever fixed shower: a full parametric, plexiglass setup with a sliding door, threaded rod construction, and a full-size mirror. It’s wild how much planning went into it — he designed the whole thing in Blender, CNC’d every piece, labeled them, then still had to sand and finish every edge (and even rebuilt the shower once because he did it backwards). From there, it’s classic Kirby flow: double benches that convert into a bed, the “Kirby table” pop-up floor table, and a kitchen packed with smart details. The drawers are lit, on mag locks with a switch up front, and the Corian solid-surface countertop has a seamless, custom-made sink bowl (no seam). He even built a simple gas-strut pop-up counter section that releases with a mag lock — way less finicky than an actuator. We also dig into the systems: 600W solar, nearly 1,000Ah of SOK battery, Victron gear, Starlink Mini, heated floors via a Rixen’s hydronic loop, and a giant walkable skylight that completely changes the vibe.
