In this video I’m back at the nomadic shop after a rare vacation and jumping right back into the Econoline build. I recap where I left off, why I’m still putting solid walls in even where cabinets will live, and how I think DIYers should approach wiring. My take: I don’t like burying wires in sidewalls unless they’re going up to the ceiling for lights/fan/AC—and even then, I want chases. Everything else (fridge, outlets, accessories) I run through cabinetry so it’s accessible later, because I’m not perfect and stuff always changes. Then I get into the ceiling decision—blue pine vs “high-end” vs keeping it simple—and I land on a sub-ceiling (1/4" plywood) with cedar planks on top. I talk through why the first board matters, why I start off a centerline (vans aren’t perfectly symmetrical), and how I’m installing it: glue and brad nails. I also tease the modular layout choices (including a bench-to-bed change), the fridge I’m using, and the “halo” lighting idea I’m planning to drop slightly for a clean look without messing up the van’s visual depth.
