About This Video

Hey, it’s Sam here. In this video I review the Royal Kludge C98, a 96% hall effect magnetic switch keyboard that’s priced around $90–$100 and comes in five language layouts. I go through the unboxing (cable, puller, extra magnetic switches, and even a hard plastic dust cover), then break down the design: an exploded 98-key layout, a removable volume knob (6mm compatible), four extra keys above the arrows, and a two-tone white/copper look. Build-wise it’s mostly plastic and weighs just under 1kg, with Cherry-profile doubleshot PBT keycaps and side-printed functions. I also cover the internals and feel: pre-lubed RK magnetic switches with an adjustable actuation range from 0.1 to 3.5mm, plate-mounted stabs that are pre-lubed with minimal rattle, and a top-mounted aluminum plate for a stable, no-flex typing feel. On the software side, the web-based driver is packed—profiles, remaps, per-key calibration, rapid trigger, dead zones, macros, RGB, and firmware tools. I test it in Valorant and Marvel Rivals and it performs great with the 8000Hz polling rate and fast response, but my main complaint is the size since the numpad takes up space. If you want a solid under-$100 96% hall effect board with lots of customization, the C98 is a good pick—just know the colorway is a bit weird and the footprint is big for gaming.
