In this video I’m sharing what’s inside our homeschool morning basket for 2025–2026, and I’m keeping it simple. Morning basket has changed a lot for us over the years because I’m now homeschooling two girls who are 13 and 16, so it looks very different than when they were little. It’s also not even in a basket anymore—it lives on our homeschool cart—and we don’t always do it in the morning. If we’re in the car a lot, we’ll do “morning time” in the evening instead, because I just go with the flow of the day. Most of what I’m sharing is geared toward my middle schooler, and it’s not really curriculum—more like fun add-ins we can do a few times a week. I’m focusing on bite-sized manners (52 Modern Manners for Today’s Teens), a little general science each day (5 Facts a Day Science), and a daily poem read-aloud (A Whale of a Time) to get more consistent read-aloud practice in. Then I rotate in trivia-style games, themed to what we’re learning in science or history, plus wooden puzzles that my daughter can work on while I read to her. I also swap in seasonal picture books as the year goes on, especially heading into fall and the holidays.
