I saw a spec poster being shared around, and if it’s even close to accurate, this camera looks like an A7 IV refresh more than a real next-gen jump—same vibe, same core specs, and even the same sensor, just with a new body, a new LCD tilting screen “skin,” and an improved EVF. What really kills my excitement is the video side. The poster still points to 4K, and while there might be a 5K highlight somewhere, there’s still no open gate mentioned—and open gate is a deal breaker for me. If Sony wants to price this around €3,000 / $3,000, I need more than a refresh: give me open gate, give me at least 5K, and give me real uncropped options like 4K60 no crop (and even 4K120 with a minimal crop). Right now, Canon, Nikon, and Lumix are doing a better job pushing features for the money, and even if you’re deep in Sony glass, it’s worth looking outside the ecosystem instead of fixating on Sony.
