In this video I’m putting together party decorations for The New Little Mermaid, and I’m keeping it simple and budget-friendly so anybody can do it. I start by blowing up all my balloons for the mermaid balloon garland kit I grabbed from Amazon, including the 5-inch balloons (they’re a little harder to blow up, so I switch to the smaller nozzle attachment). I also show you a quick trick to get confetti to stick to balloons—just rub the balloon on a surface and it helps the confetti cling. Next I build the balloon garland using the garland strip (slide the balloon tip through the bigger hole and then into the smaller hole), and I add the mermaid tails right into the strip so they’re ready to place later. For the backdrop, I hang the purple curtain fringe first, then the Ariel banner. After that, I use string and tape on the wall to secure the garland—one at the end, one in the middle, and one at the other end—then I tie the string around the balloons to tighten everything up. Once it’s up, I finish by taping the mermaid tails onto the backdrop and adding a few extra balloons on top with balloon tape (glue dots work too).
