In this video I’m doing a quick, honest, non-techy look at two of my favorite mini photo printers for journaling and planning: the Canon Selphy CP1500 and the Canon Selphy QX20. I’m not an expert in gadgets at all—I’m just sharing what it’s like as a regular person who prints photos for memory keeping. And yes… this is my second time recording because I had a whole “hot stinking mess” of tech trouble where it took me forever to get the CP1500 to connect and print. (Disconnecting my home Wi‑Fi is what finally helped it connect through the Selphy Photo Layout app.) I show how I use the Selphy Photo Layout app to pick photos, choose “shuffle” collage layouts (there are a bunch—around 9 or 10), and select a finish. On the CP1500, I love using the satin finish because it gives that almost-matte illusion and doesn’t glare as much on camera. Both printers use dye-sublimation, so the photos dry instantly and don’t smudge, and the colors look way more true than zinc prints (which can look muddy). The CP1500 is clearer and more vibrant overall, but the QX20 is adorable for on-the-go printing—and it’s adhesive, which is super convenient for journaling.
