In today’s video I’m setting up my research journal in my A5 Magnet Vertical Weekly Planner from Aura Estelle, and I’m catching up on two weeks because work was super busy and I refuse to get behind. I start by placing my pictures in the monthly section first (because it’s just easier), then I label each week by theme—last week was historically significant Latina women, and this week I’m researching historically significant Middle Eastern women. I also share how I’m adjusting my layout this year to keep the planner from getting lopsided: instead of stacking all the pictures at the top, I’m spreading them out so the bulk stays more level over time. I also talk through the supplies I’m using and why: the 52gsm Tomoe River paper in this planner is honestly exquisite (no bleed-through or ghosting unless you drop a blob of ink), and the Zig 2-Way Glue is my ride-or-die because it dries in seconds and doesn’t crinkle pages like school glue. I show my “significant events” section too—where I write what happened exactly 100 years ago on each day—and share a few entries that really surprised me (like Michael Bond’s birth and a 1926 solar eclipse tied to tests of Einstein’s theory). And yes… I make a mistake, have a little perfectionist moment, and we recover—because that’s real life journaling.
