In this live segment I get into Motorola’s first book-style foldable that’s now being called the Moto Razr Fold—yeah, I had to double-take too because I thought it was the “Moto Signature Fold.” I literally corrected my notes and then saw the article right before going live and went, “holy crap, it DOES say Razr.” So we’re talking naming changes, what Motorola might be doing with “Signature” vs “Razr,” and why this device is clearly meant to go head-to-head with the Galaxy Fold 7. Pre-orders are already open in the UK and Europe with an implied May 6 release date, plus freebies like a Moto Watch and Moto Buds Loop. Pricing is wild though—around 1,799 in the UK and 1,999 in Europe (and yes, that’s high no matter how you slice the conversion). Meanwhile, the US gets screwed again: instead of pre-orders, Americans only get a registration page. I break down why that registration is not a deposit, and why Motorola might be buying time because of the FCC situation and the whole “is Motorola going to get treated like a Chinese company because Lenovo owns them” question. The good news: it should carry over the same strengths as the Signature (which I liked a lot), including stylus support—eat your heart out, Samsung—and Motorola’s promise of monthly updates on their flagships.
