The late great Steve Jobs knew simplicity. It's one of the core components as to how he became successful with Apple. He was able to be an effective liaison between the customer and technologist. Keeping it simple is not so easy for me, even in my web design career. Yet, that is my job. Here I talk a little bit about why simplifying things is sooooo difficult and why being complicated is pretty much the easy way out. I don't really know how many people give this any thought, but a simple example comes in the form of everyday conversation. When you begin to talk and you only have an idea of what you want to say, but no real deliberate point, then that's where the skill of simplification comes in handy. Trust me, it's real easy to verbally vomit what's in your mind, but to take all that mess and make it a masterpiece in a short amount of time, that's where the real skill comes into play. In web design and development, this ability will serve you well when interpreting what clients really want in their designs from not only listening to the words out their mouth, but mannerisms, body language, what's not being said...ALL THAT! If you can turn what sounds like a heaping mess of request from clients or customers into a Picasso painting, then my friend you are on your way into mastering the skill of simplification. At least in this area of life. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: These are affiliate links that I will make a small percentage of money from when the user makes a purchase.
