How to get family and friends to support your business in web design, online, or any small business, many would advise that you go after your warm market first when starting out. "Talk to your mom and dad to see if they can support you. Talk to your friends and see if they need a website done or want what you offer!" Usually the answer to this question is that they do not want what you're offering. However, because they love you sooooooooo much, they are willing to support you strictly out of love. The problem is that this can surely be more of a hinderance than a help. Why my family and friends don't support my business is because I really try to make it my business that it's none of their business. Yet why? When it comes to family and friends, yes they say they "want what's best for you," but what they truly think is best for you is often you just stopping this "side business" activity and "get a real job." Even in 2019 and beyond this mindset still permeates our loved ones.
