About This Video

In this video I break down what I did to push my indie iOS app revenue to around $850 and the exact steps that helped me scale. I start with validation, because before I build anything I want to know the niche is already making money. I use Sensor Tower to quickly check competitors (revenue + downloads) so I can tell if there’s room for “one more app” and not waste weeks on an idea that can’t monetize. Then I move into ASO, because if people can’t find your app, you’ll get no users and basically no sales. I show how I use Astro to track rankings, research keywords, and avoid targeting impossible keywords (like difficulty 90) when your app is brand new with no reviews. After that, I talk design and how I use Mobbin to study what winning apps are doing—especially paywalls and subscription screens—and even copy layouts into Figma to speed up my process. Finally, I explain why onboarding is your sales pitch (even if the user doesn’t realize it). I prefer at least 3 onboarding screens with questions to increase interaction, then I show the paywall. I also share the pricing models I’m testing ($4.99/week, $24.99/year, and a lifetime option with a short trial) and how that strategy performed on my workout tracker app.
