About This Video

In this video I break down the pricing setup that’s helping my indie iOS apps generate over $400/month. I’m always thinking about how to price mobile apps in a way that actually works long-term, and I walk through the exact flow I’m using: RevenueCat for in-app purchases, paywalls you can change remotely, and simple experiments (A/B testing) to figure out what converts best. I also share where I place the paywall (right after onboarding) and why that moment matters—users are most intrigued and more willing to pay right there. I also talk about soft vs hard paywalls, and why I prefer soft paywalls to reduce refunds and angry reviews. People want to try at least one feature before paying, and that’s the same behavior I have when I download a new app. Then I get into my actual pricing: $5.99 weekly and $29.99 yearly, plus the important caveat that you must price around your costs (especially if you’re paying for expensive APIs) so you still have margin after Apple’s cut. Finally, I share how I use upsells/discounts to recover conversions: an immediate discounted paywall, a delayed discount via notification, and my “emergency method” discount right before the user deletes the app. Ship fast and eat your veggies.
