In this video, I’m sharing the plants I bought from Shopee Singapore because I was really excited to make full use of our balcony after moving in. Instead of going down to a nursery (and stressing about how to transport everything back), I tried ordering online from a shop with pretty good reviews. I picked up three plants: a curry plant, a pandan plant, and a citronella plant (also known as a mosquito plant) because we’ve been getting mosquitoes around our bedroom balcony. I show how the plants arrived (wrapped in plastic) and talk about the condition after delivery—mine came in about 3 to 4 days and overall they were quite okay, just with a few misshapen leaves from the packaging. I also share what happened after settling them in: the mosquito plant came in a small pot with very light soil, so it kept falling over on windy days until I repotted it into a bigger pot with more soil, and it grew a lot better after that. The curry plant was hardy, repotted easily, and even gave us leaves to cook salted egg chicken. For pandan, I made a mistake at first—watering every 2 to 3 days wasn’t enough, and the plant died quickly. I bought another one, watered daily, and it’s been flourishing since. We’ve been using the pandan leaves for green bean soup, tang yuan, and kaya, which makes having it at home super useful.
