East Coast cruise vs. West Coast cruise, which one is right for you? 🚢 In this video, we compare East Coast cruises and West Coast cruises using our real-life cruise experiences to help you decide which option fits your travel style. We’ve sailed Alaska cruises out of Seattle and Mexican Riviera cruises out of Los Angeles on the West Coast, and Caribbean cruises out of Port Canaveral plus a Bermuda cruise out of Manhattan on the East Coast. We talk about differences in cruise port cities, itineraries, onboard vibe, sea days, weather, and why the time of year you cruise can completely change your experience. From a packed Thanksgiving Mexican Riviera cruise filled with families and large groups, to a quieter January Caribbean cruise that felt under capacity, and a summer Bermuda cruise right after kids got out of school, we share how seasonality impacts crowd levels, ship atmosphere, and overall cruise enjoyment. This honest cruise comparison isn’t about which coast is better, it’s about choosing the right cruise based on destination, itinerary length, and when you’re able to travel. Let us know in the comments, do you prefer East Coast cruises or West Coast cruises? And how much does timing matter when you plan your cruises? About This Video

In this video, we’re comparing what it’s really like to cruise out of the East Coast vs the West Coast—based on the exact cruises we’ve taken. We’ve sailed West Coast itineraries out of Seattle (Alaska) and Los Angeles (Mexican Riviera), and East Coast itineraries out of Port Canaveral (Caribbean) and Manhattan (Bermuda). We talk through the real differences we felt in the port cities, how easy (or crazy) embarkation can be, and how things like flight time, jet lag, and overall “port vibe” can change your trip before you even step on the ship. We also get into the onboard atmosphere and why the destination and itinerary length matter so much. For us, Alaska felt scenic and serene with a more chill pace, while the Mexican Riviera was more vibrant—especially sailing over Thanksgiving, when the ship was packed with families and big reunion groups. The Caribbean is just a party (in the best way), and Bermuda surprised us with three days in port, unbelievable snorkeling, pink sand beaches, and a strong British influence. Our biggest takeaway: timing is everything. Holiday weeks can feel overcrowded, shoulder season can be perfect (Alaska in late August/early September), and January in the Caribbean gave us warm weather without the heavy humidity—though we did lose a tender port due to big waves. We’re not saying one coast is better; we’re helping you pick what fits your travel style.
