In this tutorial, I show you exactly how to remove background noise in Descript using its built-in AI—no complicated audio editing required. I start right from the Descript dashboard, where you can simply drag and drop your audio file. For my example, I used a quick recording made while a fan was running, so you can clearly hear what real background noise sounds like before cleaning it up. Once the file is uploaded, I literally type what I want Descript to do: “remove the background noise,” then hit Get Started. Descript automatically adds the audio to a script and applies Studio Sound to clean things up. After it finishes, I play both the before and after so you can hear the difference—especially if you’re wearing headphones (speakers can hide the noise a bit). If you’re editing podcasts, voiceovers, or videos and just want cleaner audio fast, this workflow is the easiest way to get a more professional sound inside Descript.
