In this tutorial, I walk you through exactly how to add a first name in Flodesk so your emails feel personal instead of generic. I start inside Flodesk by heading to the Emails area, clicking “New email,” and choosing a Welcome template so we can see the personalization in action. While you’re picking a template, I also show you how to check if it’s mobile compatible by toggling the mobile preview (the little phone icon) so you know your email is responsive before you customize anything. Once you’re in the editor, I show you the key part: inserting the First Name personalization tag in your greeting. If your template already has something like “Hi {{ first name }},” you’re good. But if it doesn’t, I show you how to add it manually by inserting First Name and setting a fallback so that if a subscriber’s first name isn’t available, Flodesk will display “friend” instead.
