About This Video

In this video, I walk you through exactly how to overdub in Descript, step by step, so you can fix a mistake or swap out words without re-recording. I start from the basics—getting your video into Descript (either by clicking New Project or just dragging and dropping your file). Then I show you how to jump to the exact word you want to change, highlight it, and use the Regenerate option to “fix audio or change what was said without re-recording.” The big thing to understand is voice authorization. If it’s your first time using Overdub, Descript will ask to use your microphone and you’ll need to train and authorize the speaker so the new audio still sounds like you. I demonstrate reading the provided training statement, choosing the right mic for the best quality, and submitting authorization. After that, I test it by changing “Apple” to “Google,” and then I do another change (“cancel” to “pause”) to show how fast it is once your voice is already trained—no extra recording needed. If you’re done with a studio session and don’t want to go back, this is a huge time-saver.
