About This Video

In this video, I walk you through how I make tutorial videos with Descript from start to finish using its text-based editing workflow. I start right at the beginning with recording inside Descript by clicking “Record,” then choosing the style that matches your tutorial: camera only, camera + screen (my go-to for walkthroughs), audio only, or “record with others.” If it’s your first time, you’ll just approve the microphone/webcam permissions and you’re ready to go. After recording, this is where the “wonderful things happen.” I show you how I clean up a tutorial fast using Descript’s AI Tools—especially “Edit for clarity,” which cuts filler words, digressions, and obvious mistakes. I also point out tools like Studio Sound (so you can sound more professional even without a studio), remove filler words, remove retakes, shorten word gaps, add chapters, and Quick Design for adding scenes/layouts/B-roll. From there, I show how to add elements for emphasis (shapes), apply caption templates, and drop in media. Finally, I export the finished tutorial—video, audio, timeline, transcript, or subtitles—choosing local export, resolution, and recommended quality so you end up with a polished file ready to upload.
