About This Video

In this video, I walk you through how I edit podcasts faster using Descript AI by leaning into its text-based workflow and built-in templates. Instead of starting from scratch, I go to the templates area, hit “Browse more templates,” and choose the “Roughcut of podcast” template because it’s designed to turn a raw recording into a polished episode—and it can also generate social clips and show notes. From there, I drag and drop my main podcast file, let Descript transcribe it, and submit it so the template can start working through the edit. I also show you the optional step where you can add intro/outro music files, and then I review the plan Descript creates (remove retakes, shorten word gaps/long pauses, remove filler words, and apply enhancements like Studio Sound). The key takeaway is that Descript keeps you updated step-by-step and even lets you change the plan or add instructions before you approve it. Once the edit is done, I review the generated episode description and timestamped show notes, demonstrate quick on-screen text/transition tweaks, and then cover export options—video, audio, timeline, transcript, or subtitles—including publishing via a Descript web link, exporting locally, or sending it straight to YouTube.
