How do you sort a huge LEGO collection like BRICKLOVER BRAD?

I keep my collection meticulously sorted, but it only stays that way because I put in the work. My main trick is grabbing the big, easy-to-file parts first—plates, panels, baseplates, stairs—so I get quick progress. Then all the small random stuff goes into my “bricks to be sorted” bin for a dedicated sorting session later.

What LEGO did you buy at Bricks in the Six?

I picked up three big bags of bulk LEGO, and they were loaded—like $25 a bag and you get a ton of parts. One bag had a bunch of baseplates, and another had tons of flex tubes/hoses and other high-quantity pieces. I also grabbed a bunch of minifigures for cheap, including some that will definitely end up in my LEGO City.

Why do you buy bulk LEGO at conventions?

Bulk is awesome because you can score a ton of useful building parts for way less than buying them individually. I specifically look for stuff I burn through in LEGO City builds—plates, baseplates, panels, windows/doors type elements. And sometimes you hit the jackpot with parts that are valuable enough to flip on BrickLink to help pay for the convention.

What parts did you find that were worth selling on BrickLink?

In the first bag alone, I found over 300 hose pieces—357 of them—and those can be worth around 80 cents each. I also pulled out domes, rounded pieces, and other specialty/random printed parts that I know I’ll never use in my LEGO City. The goal is to list the high-quantity or niche stuff and keep the core building pieces for my collection.

How do you decide what LEGO parts to keep vs sell?

If it’s something I’ll realistically use for LEGO City buildings—plates, curved bricks, panels, baseplates—I keep it. If it’s specialty, random prints, or stuff that doesn’t fit my building style, I’d rather list it in the BrickLink store. That way I’m not hoarding parts I’ll never touch, and I can fund future hauls.

What is your 'bricks to be sorted' bin and why is it so full?

That bin is where all the small, annoying-to-sort pieces go after I pull out the big easy stuff. It saves time in the moment, but yeah… it’s way too full right now and that’s on me. It’s going to be the first priority in the next sorting vlog because once it gets this packed, it becomes a huge undertaking.

Did you keep the 2025 LEGO advent calendar builds?

Accepted Answer

Not all of them. I wasn’t the biggest fan this year—too many tiny micro builds that just weren’t that impressive to me—so I’m breaking a bunch down for parts. I am keeping the minifigures, and there are a few builds I actually liked (like the bulldozer, spaceship, tractor, sleigh, and train).
