In today’s BrickLink Store VLOG I am showing you guys all of the LEGO that I picked up at Bricks in the Six, including both new LEGO from the LEGO Store as well as some used LEGO from the vendors. Since the majority of LEGO that’s currently for sale in my BrickLink Store (BricksTO) is new, I figured I would buy some bags of used bulk brick to add to the inventory to diversify my selection, however, the biggest question I had for myself was if spending all of the time and money to sort through these used parts was actually worth it? In this video I go through the entire process of selling used LEGO pieces- from sorting and identifying parts, to listing them in my store, I’ll discuss the prices, my predictions and show you how I do and if it’s worth the effort! About This Video

What’s up you guys—Brad here, and in this BrickLink store vlog I’m taking you behind the scenes of how I figure out if selling used LEGO parts is actually worth the time. After Bricks in the Six, I brought home a mix of new LEGO (three Pick a Brick boxes) and a few bags of used bulk from vendors. My store (BricksTO) has mostly been new parts, so I wanted to diversify the inventory, but I also needed to know if the sorting, identifying, and listing grind would pay off. I walk you through my whole process: sorting (including me learning the hard way that dumping everything into one cup is a disaster), counting with a spreadsheet, and then pricing and listing on BrickLink—once BrickLink finally decided to work again. From the three Pick a Brick boxes alone, I added 4,464 parts and valued them at $247.89 USD after I found a cup I missed. Considering I paid roughly $70 CAD for the three cups, that’s a pretty great value on paper. Then I jump into used bulk—$25 lot bags—and this is where it gets really interesting. I found flex tubes worth around 80 cents each (357 of them), and even a couple parts that added up to about $300 in value, including dishes worth $5.70 each used. The big takeaway: used parts can be insanely fun and profitable, but it’s manual work—so the “worth it” depends on what you find and how serious you are about growing your store.
