About This Video

In this video I’m at a LEGO convention and I stumble across an absolutely gorgeous build: the Fairmont Château Laurier, recreated entirely out of LEGO. This is a real hotel in Ottawa, Canada, and seeing it translated into bricks is just wild. I walk you around the exterior first—there’s so much going on with the roof design, the pillars, and all the little architectural details. There’s even a spot where the builder used a Technic piece in a way I honestly never would’ve thought of, and it just works. You can tell this thing would’ve been insanely challenging with all the curvatures and angles. Then we get into my favorite part: the back is left open so you can see the interior storytelling. There’s a presidential suite with a full bathroom (yes, there’s a toilet), a huge bed, and a detailed living room with awesome wall panel work. Down below you’ve got regular suites, hotel hallways with a maid’s cart, room service, people watching TV, kids gaming and building LEGO, and even elevator details and tile work that are next level. The main lobby has check-in, a bellhop with luggage, and of course a lobby bar—because it wouldn’t be a hotel without one. The lighting throughout the whole model makes it look even cooler, but the interior detail is what really sets this MOC apart.
