Want to learn how to edit your own content using Descript? https://www.bambyacademy.com/learndescript I get asked a lot of questions about podcasting and one that doesn’t come with a clear cut answer is about guests. “Should I have guests on my show?” Well, the truth is, it’s really up to you! But before you go ahead and schedule a bunch of interviews, let me share a few thoughts that might help you make an informed decision. If you already have a kick-ass podcast where you are speaking to your audience, connecting with your community and sharing content that your listeners want to hear, there’s really no reason why you should start having guests. If you’re getting the growth you want without guests, you shouldn’t feel pressured to go in that direction. Your listeners are engaged, they love YOU and they may not want you to change anything. On the plus side, having guests on your show enables you to collaborate with another person who has their own community that you could start connecting with. However, it's a good idea to check whether your guests are willing to share your podcast episode with them on their platforms. If someone is particular about what they share on social media, you might need to provide certain graphics or audiograms which align with their brand. So think about what you might need to provide to them that will make it more likely for them to share. A great way to find out if guest episodes are going to work for you or not is to check the stats. Do your guest episodes get as many downloads as your solo episodes? There are so many insights available if you have a good podcast provider. I recommend Buzzsprout as the best podcast host including great visual statistics. If you already have a podcast host but your stats are no good, I recommend Blubrry as they have a statistics only package. Use my code "bambymedia-signup" for your first month free there! At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. Perhaps you want to change things up and start collaborating with other people, or maybe you just need to keep pumping out that kick ass content in a solo format. Whatever you do, just keep creating and the listeners will come.
