In this episode of Running on Pixie Dust, I’m sharing the update I’ve been waiting 54 days to say out loud: I got the okay to run again. I walk through what recovery has looked like with my knees (yes, plural, because apparently my body said “why just one when you can have two”), what physical therapy has actually been helping with, and how I’m easing back into Dopey training without being reckless. I’m not a coach—just an Orlando runner who’s learning in real time and oversharing everything I can so you don’t feel alone if you’re in the injury trenches too. I also do my usual highs and lows: spooky season at Disneyland (Oogie Boogie Bash on Halloween night was elite), managing lots of walking while dealing with knee tracking issues, and the reality that time off running absolutely wrecked my routine and my mental health. The biggest takeaway: coming back is possible, but it’s slow, it’s stressful, and it’s all about strengthening the support system—hips, glutes, quads, calves, the whole cast. I’m doing 30-minute easy runs, icing immediately after, and testing PT taping that honestly feels like witchcraft—in the best way.
