In this episode of Running on Pixie Dust, I’m getting real-real: baby’s first DNF and then the emotional whiplash of Marathon Weekend registration (aka the best weekend of the year + the worst registration day of the year). I kick things off with my highs—graduating PT after months of chasing down a “everything is tight” situation (calves, hamstrings, ankles… all of it), plus what my maintenance looks like now. I’m talking foam rolling, scraping, warmups, PT exercises, stretching while brushing my teeth… like, it’s a part-time job, but it’s what keeps me running. I also share a fun Disney bachelorette weekend that absolutely wrecked my legs (12-hour park day? I can run a marathon but I can’t do that), my new Pilates princess era, and my Huma gels partnership. Then we get into the Best Damn Race Half in Orlando—where I agreed to pace 2:20 in hot, humid, direct-sun conditions one week after Princess Weekend. I held pace through 8 miles, but the heat and depletion hit hard, and it stopped being a “push through it” moment and became a “listen to your body” moment. I stepped off, did my two-mile walk of shame back, and took the ego bruise with it.
