About This Video

Hey what’s up, it’s Annika, and in this debt payoff update for October 2023 I’m walking you through where my balances are at after I finally caught my spreadsheet back up (yes… she’s been falling off, it happens). I started this journey in 2020 with a total balance of basically $230,000, and I’m sharing the real numbers behind what’s changed since then—especially how different things look now that life is more expensive and I’m not in that 2020 “stay home and grind” era anymore. In this update I break down my three current debts: my car loan, my federal student loan, and my private student loan (which I’ve refinanced three times already). As of the end of September, my car balance is about $27.3K with a ~$500 minimum payment, my federal loan grew from interest to about $9.6K, and my private student loan is around $138.6K with a $1,550 minimum payment. My total balance is about $174.5K, and I’ve paid roughly $83.9K down overall. The biggest takeaway: I’m not doing this the super “gazelle intense” way anymore—I’m in it for the long haul, and I’m choosing a plan that lets me live life and still make progress (because I need my daily happies).
