About This Video

After years of experimenting with different setups, I finally landed on a minimalist MacBook setup that actually fits how I code and how I live. I’m a digital nomad, so everything I carry needs to be portable, high-quality, and—most importantly—simple. In this video I break down the hardware I use day-to-day (and why), plus the software that helps me stay focused, get into a flow state, and do deep work for long stretches. On the hardware side, my main machine is a MacBook Air M1 (2020), which is genuinely one of the best-value tech purchases I’ve ever made. I’m a one-screen person (yes, it freaks people out), because I work better when I can focus on one task. The “second screen” compromise for me is an iPad Air, which I use to build a second brain in Notability—everything I learn in tech goes in there, plus diagrams when I’m designing APIs. I also talk through the small things that make a big difference: a laptop stand for posture, a Logitech mouse that feels premium, AirPods for lo-fi coding sessions, and a Jabra mic that’s essential if you work from loud coffee shops. On the software side, I use VS Code and Cursor. VS Code is for when I’m learning and don’t want AI help; Cursor is for shipping faster—like having a caffeinated senior dev on call 24/7. I also share my go-to extensions, my Mac cleanup tool, and a Pomodoro app that tracks my hours so I can stay consistent month-to-month.
