About This Video

A couple years ago I became a software engineer at 32 with zero technical background, no CS degree, and I learned most of it for free on YouTube while working a full-time marketing job. In this video I break down exactly how I’d do it again if I had to start over at 30—because I remember feeling behind, feeling lost, and thinking coding would be dry and boring… until I tried a simple HTML course and fell down the rabbit hole. I walk through the roadmap I wish I’d followed from day one: first getting a high-level overview of the different areas in tech (dev, UX, cloud, AI, even non-technical roles) so you can pick what actually suits you. Then I talk about getting crystal clear on your “why” (your fuel), finding a learning roadmap, and choosing your learning path—bootcamp, university, or self-taught—based on structure, money, and your goals. From there it’s about setting a realistic schedule, making short-term sacrifices, tracking your hours, and immersing yourself in the space. Finally, I get into the stuff people ignore: project-based learning to avoid tutorial hell, applying before you feel “ready,” and treating the job hunt like more than just “get better technically.” You’re either a CV or a person—so build projects, build soft skills, network, and give yourself more ways to get picked than just a random application.
